I was wondering about that. I think it might be the whole "imminent release!" thing. But I'm also wondering if it's about some of the two dozen or so articles about how APC is going to release a new album before Tool.
soooo we all know Tool is nowhere near close....but if by some miracle 2018 was possible...do you think Maynard would actually try to juggle a Tool release, which is going to be a big thing given how highly anticipated a new album has been, with an APC album in the same year? Toss in his Puscifer stuff and Vineyard and him being 53?...Not to mention likely big tours for each album....
Soooo...yeah...APC 2018...Tool 2019?? Or if you are me, you simply believe that there will never be a Tool album because you simply don't believe anything Tool has to say at this point because of their track record of being entirely full of shit.
Now if I am wrong on all of it, awesome. Some of you are willing to wait for a new Tool album forever and I completely understand and respect that. Some of you are incredibly excited for new APC, heck I was at first too..not such much now.
Again I am don't want to derail the hype train so I am sincerely glad if any of this news regarding an APC album, Tool touring and APC touring brings anyone happiness or something to look forward to. My days of angry rants are long gone. Slightly frustrated is where I am at the moment. Ultimately this is all just speculation. Maybe it all works out perfectly in the end.
Will there be a new APC album in 2017, and maybe some new material played on this tour? That is the idea. If all goes well, we will have a new record out in 2017. It’s a creative human process, and you never know what’s going to happen, but I feel pretty good about that possibility. As far as new music on the tour, again, I’m not promising anything, but what I see happening is us playing a few songs. They might not be in complete finished form, but we get to test them out on you guys and see how it goes with reactions, see how we feel about it.
The Tulsa Voice: Last year it was announced that you were working on a new album. Where does it stand now?
Billy Howerdel: I’m working on it right now. It’s getting all the stars to align, with our schedules, that’s going to make it possible… If all goes [according] to plan, we should see it in 2017.
A PERFECT CIRCLE's New Album Will Be "A More DEPECHE MODE, Electronic, and Dance-y" One
According to guitarist Billy Howerdel in an interview with AJC, the new album will be a fairly large departure from its predecessors, and will be pretty electronic.

I'm absolutely down with an APC album that's a little more new wave and Depeche Mode. It's something Billy has long expressed an interest in. As much as I love the shit out of Puscifer (really, I do!) Matt Mitchell just doesn't have the same composition skills as Billy. Plus, APC doesn't have as many weird time signatures and meandering bits.

I hope it turns out alright, but sadly that statement has hosed down any real excitement I had for the album.
Hopefully Tool get their shit together and record first.
^ They won't. Its all bad news on all fronts. My interest in a new APC album is now 100% gone. I hate Depeche Mode. I love Mer De Noms/Thirteenth Step APC. I hate eMOTIVE APC. And now if they are going Depeche/Puscifer lite well RIP.
Trumps in office.
Tool are lazy fucks.
APC is now a pop rock band.
Damn Fucked on all fronts
At least we have a new Intronaut album to look forward to.

Based on what I've heard, I'm guessing whatever comes out is going to be a hardcore political album. I won't be upset about that.

Yeah, because the last political album was so great. People should go out and get fresh air rather than reading the latest CNN headlines of Trump day #123 (or whatever the fuck it is now).

Yeah, the sitting president just fired the FBI director investigating his own administration. People should just go outside and not worry about stuff.
