^Fucking awesome Ettan! I would really like to visit all of those places.
I am going to the Santa Barbara show with a lady friend, “she’s not my special lady friend”, well we are hooking up, but not making a love child like The Big Lebowski. Anyways, that was a lot of unnecessary info, but I have still yet to buy tickets to the Santa Barbara show so if anybody or you know anybody that has tickets to sell let me know, please and thank you. I would rather buy from somebody here over scalper sites. My lady friend has never seen APC live, but she has seen Tool. Very stoked for the venue, as the capacity shown on Wikipedia is only 2k seats, and so a great venue for her first show.

Re: APC Tour 2018 discussion (includes spoilers!)
according to setlist.fm they played a bunch of the new songs live yesterday. curious to read some opinions on the new stuff. anyone?
Re: APC Tour 2018 discussion (includes spoilers!)
I was at the Tucson show last night. They killed it!
Loved hearing Doomed, Disillusioned, and Talk Talk live. Hearing the other new songs for the first time ever live was awesome too.
They opened with Eat the Elephant which was beautiful, then went right into Disillusioned which was amazing.
Played several old songs, then played Talk Talk, The Contrarian, Hourglass, So Long, and Thanks for All Fish with some old songs mixed in between and then closed with The Doomed.
Eat the Elephant is kind of an intro song like Annihilation on Emotive, so some people may not be excited for that but the other three songs we haven't heard yet I think people should get excited for. At least in a live setting they made me really want to hear this album. I really don't get people who are complaining about APC. They kick ass, and anybody who thinks otherwise has not experienced them live.

congratulations, you lucky bastard:)
Rock on!
- You like noisy music?
- Yes. The louder the better. Stops me from thinking.
- You don't like to think? What do you like?
- Never thought about it.

Seeing them tomorrow night and looking forward to it. I agree, (and Puscifer much, much more), you have to see them live.children wrote:I was at the Tucson show last night. They killed it!

Re: APC Tour 2018 discussion (includes spoilers!)
San Jose show kicked ass. Band sounded great. Stage production is ever evolving, getting pretty big at this point. Bigger than last year, which already was starting to get more flashy. Visualizer type screens, spinning stage lights of various colors, etc. Greg Edwards was a good fit, sounded and played excellent. He stood on a pedestal to left side of the stage just like James Iha. He didn't leave it either like Iha. Interesting, wonder if it is a coincidence or a requirement? Anyway lots of new songs were played. Which is expected, pretty much any time Maynard tours a new album, the setlist heavily relies on new material. New songs sounded great in a live setting. Had an awesome time. Glad to live in an area that is a good market for APC.
Re: APC Tour 2018 discussion (includes spoilers!)
I was in SJ last night too, with some friends. Definitely enjoyed the show, but they were done by 10:30 - way too early, and no encore, not even a fake one. (Many people were yelling ‘Fuck You Maynard’ . Beta Machine started well before 8:00, missed most of their set unfortunately. Looooong intermission while APC set up.
They played most of the new album peppered throughout the show, interspersed with material from the other 3. MJK kind of apologized for playing so much new material and thanked us for helping them work it out. For me, the old songs far outstripped the new ones, with a couple of exceptions. I got more into the songs they’ve already released more than the tracks that were completely new to me, so I’m sure at least some of them will come more into focus once I absorb the album. I never got my hands on the leak, and that’s just as well.
@Tyson - Interesting to read your review, looking forward to hearing it more now.
As Nousername mentioned, sound was good, I liked the venue. Stage and lighting/screens were very well done and had a great arc to the show, as expected. Maynard sounded outstanding and very engaged. The whole band was really good. Still missing Freese, but that’s likely more sentimental as Friedl is a great drummer.
More later. Gotta run.
There was a serious phone/recording policy that was hammered in multiple ways (audio loop, signs everywhere). It was very successful, I saw zero screens the whole show. Even though I like to snag a few pics at a show, I found it very refreshing and just left my phone in my pocket for once.

Re: APC Tour 2018 discussion (includes spoilers!)
mjk repeatedly said there won't be any more tool shows this year so stop whining. these dates do not delay the tool album process in any way

Maynard has already made it clear that he won't be doing his vocals in studio with Tool. He'll do them in Arizona, most likely during the harvest.M0G wrote:

Harvest is September Tool will likely be done minus vocals by the end of June...if Maynard didn't do this half ass APC album we would have a new Tool album this year. REDACTED
From last night, straight from Maynard himself. @ericmatisoff @AppleMusic @aperfectcircle My work is done. Words, melodies. Waiting on them to track. Then I can finish. Can’t track to music that isn’t recorded.

Re: APC Tour 2018 discussion (includes spoilers!)
I am gonna let this one slide and take it easy on you. Do you see me telling people to get the fuck out of a thread because of a difference of opinion? I think Maynard is an arrogant, hypocritical, disingenuous jerk who has been talking out of his ass recently taking swipes at Tool fans, his Tool band mates, and coming off as a houlier than thou prick who doesn't practice what he preaches. If you don't like that position I don't give a fuck. Hopefully that clears things up. Good talkEttan wrote:MOG get the fuck out the thread and take it in The Grudge.
