I was in SJ last night too, with some friends. Definitely enjoyed the show, but they were done by 10:30 - way too early, and no encore, not even a fake one. (Many people were yelling ‘Fuck You Maynard’

. Beta Machine started well before 8:00, missed most of their set unfortunately. Looooong intermission while APC set up.
They played most of the new album peppered throughout the show, interspersed with material from the other 3. MJK kind of apologized for playing so much new material and thanked us for helping them work it out. For me, the old songs far outstripped the new ones, with a couple of exceptions. I got more into the songs they’ve already released more than the tracks that were completely new to me, so I’m sure at least some of them will come more into focus once I absorb the album. I never got my hands on the leak, and that’s just as well.
@Tyson - Interesting to read your review, looking forward to hearing it more now.
As Nousername mentioned, sound was good, I liked the venue. Stage and lighting/screens were very well done and had a great arc to the show, as expected. Maynard sounded outstanding and very engaged. The whole band was really good. Still missing Freese, but that’s likely more sentimental as Friedl is a great drummer.
More later. Gotta run.
There was a serious phone/recording policy that was hammered in multiple ways (audio loop, signs everywhere). It was very successful, I saw zero screens the whole show. Even though I like to snag a few pics at a show, I found it very refreshing and just left my phone in my pocket for once.
